Altar Guild
WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
The
Altar Guild is comprised of church members, men and women, who prepare
the church for communion or other liturgical services. We work “behind
the scenes,” often when the building is peaceful and empty.
Centuries-old traditions and symbolism guide our work and how we prepare
for each service.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Members
of the Altar Guild are responsible for “setting up” or “taking down” at
regular services on a rotating basis, usually once a month. During
Advent, Lent, Easter, and special services, such as baptisms, marriage
services, and funerals, we are called upon for additional preparations.
New Altar Guild members are given individual, hands-on training.
In serving
on the Altar Guild, we learn more
about
the liturgical traditions of the Episcopal Church, and we gain a deeper
understanding of the sacramental nature of our worship. We serve Our
Lord in a humble and quiet way. |
